Mountaineer Contractors along with Greer Limestone and Polce Seal Coating came together to help out the Masontown VFW.  Leaders of the VFW say they're thrilled with the repairs which compliment a new building that opened five years ago.

“They came through in glorious fashion. I’m just tickled to death," said Alex "Buck" Turner, the VFW's commander. "We could have never done it on our own. We just couldn’t afford it because we have the new building here and we’re still paying on it.” 

It all started last month when the owner of Greer Limestone saw that the parking lot was in disarray and wanted to help out.

PRICHARD, W.Va. (AP) - Halfway between a Virginia seaside port and one of the busiest U.S. rail yards in Chicago, a new railroad facility has opened in Appalachia as officials look to drum up business in West Virginia and potentially diversify an economy that has relied on coal for decades.

The Heartland Intermodal Gateway terminal in Prichard recently opened on 76 acres donated by Norfolk Southern.

Owned by the West Virginia Port Authority, the terminal is designed to move containers more efficiently by rail through a double-stack method while offering a cheaper alternative to gas-guzzling trucks.

(Herald Dispatch 10/7)  The long-sought Heartland Intermodal Gateway facility at the A. Michael Perry Industrial Park in Prichard is expected to begin transferring cargo from trains to trucks within two weeks, officials said.  Del. Don Perdue, executive director of the Wayne County Economic Development Authority, said Parsec, the company hired to operate the $30 million facility, is in the final stages of equipment installation, ahead of the original construction deadline of December 2015.
