BEAMS PLACED FOR I-79 INTERCHANGE IN MORGANTOWN

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Crews are moving forward with work to build a bridge at the new interchange on Interstate 79, albeit on a day-by-day basis.

The construction schedule announced earlier this month was scrapped last week, after it was discovered that the concrete beams weighed more than anticipated. Carrie Bly, spokeswoman for the state Division of Highways, said the beams vary in weight based on where they are being placed, from 38-80 tons.

Four beams were placed over the northbound traffic lanes between Westover and Star City as of Monday morning, Feb. 22, with four more beams slated to be placed overnight…click on the link below for the full story.
