EASTON HILL RE-OPENS ON AHEAD OF SCHEDULE

August 21, 2017

The Dominion Post:

MORGANTOWN — Following two weeks of closure, Easton Hill reopened in the afternoon Aug. 11, hours ahead of schedule, according to the West Virginia Division of Highways (DOH).

DOH District Manager Donald Williams said the original plan was for the firm doing the work, Mountaineer Contractors, to open the road at midnight Aug. 11. Move-in for WVU honors students begins Aug. 11 with the rest of the 2017-’18 freshmen class to follow on Aug. 12.

To that end, DOH District Manager Donald Williams said the contractors were installing guardrails and testing the traffic signal in the days leading up to the expected opening. Williams said the scheduled midnight opening was to compensate just in a case of unforeseen circumstances such as inclement weather.
