PRICHARD CARGO FACILITY SET TO START THIS MONTH

(Herald Dispatch 10/7) The long-sought Heartland Intermodal Gateway facility at the A. Michael Perry Industrial Park in Prichard is expected to begin transferring cargo from trains to trucks within two weeks, officials said. Del. Don Perdue, executive director of the Wayne County Economic Development Authority, said Parsec, the company hired to operate the $30 million facility, is in the final stages of equipment installation, ahead of the original construction deadline of December 2015.
